Second to None
Hydroseeding results can vary greatly depending on the quantity and quality of the ingredients in the mix. At GreenAcres we have studied for years different seeding mixtures and techniques. We have created what we feel is a near perfect blend for our Idaho climate. The results of these efforts speak for themselves with thousands of satisfied customers who are enjoying beautiful lawns.
Below are some differences between regular hydroseeding and premium hydroseeding.
Seed
Premium hydroseeding contains a substantially higher seed density (10lbs vs 6lbs) than competing blends, resulting in a full lush lawn far faster than competing formulas: you can expect a lush lawn in 3-4 weeks verses up to 6 months. We also use the absolute best seeds on the market, not all grass seed is created equally. Many lower quality seeds contain fillers and weed seed. They also do not produce lawns that look anywhere near as good as higher quality seed.
Fertilizers
Just like seed, not all Fertilizers are created equally. We use premium Fertilizers sourced locally and designed specifically for the Idaho climate and soil composition that is unique to our geographic area.
Newly seeded lawns need a rich supply of nutrients to thrive. We have a secret sauce using a special blend of controlled release fertilizers that feed your lawn for the first three months.
Normal hydroseeding applications typically need additional fertilizer added within 2-3 weeks of the hydroseeding application. This is often difficult to do as the lawn is still not fully established. When you see newly hydroseeded lawns fading in color and slowing in growth it is an indication that the new grass is starving and in need of immediate nourishment.
Mulch
We use a premium mulch that coats and protects the seed as it germinates, resulting in a more consistent and speedy germination. The mulch we use is actual wood fibers, not saw dust, wood chips, paper or straw. The wood fibers create a matt that protects the seed and helps with water retention.
Soil Stabilizers
Also known as tackifer. We use tackifers in every job to protect your investment while the seed goes through the germination process. Tackifers hold everything in place even under harsh conditions - such as longer than needed watering or heavy storms - and on slopes.
Weed Control
Few things can be more frustrating that to watch new weeds grow faster than your new lawn. Fortunately there are some amazing products on the market that do a phenomenal job of keeping weeds out of your new lawn for the first 6-8 weeks and they are automatically included with our premium hydroseeding. These products allow your lawn to become established before weeds are able to sprout. Non-premium hydroseeding applications typically do not contain any products to help prevent weeds from growing with your new lawn, some of which can be extremely difficult to remove in established lawns.
